Grow the Middle Class & Make Products in the U.S.A.
The Shrinking and Stagnating Middle Class!
Let’s be honest. The economy does not feel that good to many of us. It’s a complicated issue with thousands of moving parts and issues.
Those great old-fashion manufacturing jobs have taken a huge hit over the years. The rest of the world makes many of the products you buy today. You, your kids and grandkids buy them. “Made in the U.S.A.” is hard to find.
Our country has lost some 6 million manufacturing jobs since 2001. We have made some gains the last few years. But we have been losing good, higher paying manufacturing jobs for the last 30 years or more.
The U.S.A. lost dominance in the high tech product export sector to China in 2004. In 2004, China exported $180 billion worth of these products. The U.S.A. lagged behind by some $30 billion.
Trade agreements like NAFTA and the TPP have had an adverse effect on American production jobs and have pushed millions of Americans out of the middle class. This has to change. Both government and the private sector have to work together to make our economy work for us and business. We live in a very competitive world. Yet continuing global business as usual is not the answer for the American worker.
So should we hold our elected officials accountable for this long decline in your standard of living? I believe the answer is yes. The United States Congress determines the rules, laws and tax regulations that enable production and jobs to more easily leave the U.S.A. for foreign lands.
If your congressional representative has not or is not FIGHTING FOR YOUR FUTURE, should you elect someone that will?
The national, state, local and your personal economy will be my NUMBER 1 Priority. Bringing higher paying jobs and economic growth to South Florida needs to be very high on the political agenda. We need to encourage and assist private companies to come to South Florida.
Much damage has been done. It’s time to reverse the trend.
